This Privacy Policy explains how the Committee to Elect Brett Haddoak to Santa Clarita City Council 2026 (FPPC #1492182) ("the Committee," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit haddoakforsantaclarita.com, send us a message, sign up to volunteer, or join our email or text message lists.

We are a political campaign committee, not a commercial business. We do not sell your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways: information you give us directly, information collected automatically when you use this site, and information we receive from public records.

  • Information you give us: your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and the contents of any message you send through our contact or volunteer forms, including the volunteer activities you tell us you are interested in.
  • Information collected automatically: your IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages you view on this site, gathered through our self-hosted website analytics and standard server logs.
  • Information from third parties: publicly available voter registration data and information you make public on social media.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to run the campaign and to communicate with supporters.

  • Responding to the questions, comments, and requests you send us.
  • Sending campaign updates, event invitations, and volunteer opportunities by email and text message, where you have asked to receive them.
  • Coordinating volunteer activities such as canvassing, phone banking, text banking, and events.
  • Understanding how visitors use this site so we can improve it.
  • Protecting this site against spam, fraud, and abuse.

3. Text Messages (SMS and MMS)

If you give us your mobile number through a form on this site, by texting our campaign keyword, or by giving it to a campaign volunteer, you are agreeing to receive recurring automated campaign text messages from the Committee at that number. Consent is not a condition of any purchase, and it is not a condition of volunteering for or otherwise supporting the campaign.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts, or reply HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile opt-in information and consent are never shared with any third party except the messaging vendors that deliver messages on our behalf.

4. Email

When you give us your email address, we may send you campaign news, event invitations, and volunteer requests. Every campaign email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by writing to privacy@haddoak4santaclarita.com. We will honor the request promptly.

Even if you unsubscribe from campaign mailings, we may still reply to a message you sent us or follow up on a volunteer commitment you made.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the limited circumstances described below.

  • Service providers: our email and text messaging platforms, spam protection, and website hosting, each of which may use your information only to provide services to the campaign.
  • Campaign staff and volunteers: for outreach, event coordination, and follow-up.
  • Legal compliance: when required by law or by valid legal process.

Mobile opt-in data and text message consent are excluded from all sharing described above, other than with the messaging vendors that deliver our texts.

6. Cookies, Analytics, and Spam Protection

This site uses self-hosted website analytics to count visits and understand which pages people find useful. It may set a cookie on your device. We do not use advertising networks, third-party ad trackers, or data brokers on this site.

Our forms use a privacy-focused challenge service to block automated spam submissions. That service receives limited technical information about your browser in order to tell people apart from bots.

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. This site works without them, although some conveniences, such as remembering your language preference, may not persist.

7. How Long We Keep Information

We keep the contact information you give us for as long as the campaign is active, and for as long afterward as the law requires us to keep records. Contact and volunteer form submissions are kept so that we can follow up with you. You may ask us to delete your information at any time, subject to any records we are legally required to retain.

8. Your Choices

You control how the campaign contacts you.

  • Text messages: reply STOP to any campaign text message.
  • Email: use the unsubscribe link in any campaign email, or write to privacy@haddoak4santaclarita.com.
  • Phone calls: tell any caller that you would like to be removed from our list.
  • Access, correction, and deletion: write to privacy@haddoak4santaclarita.com and tell us what you would like to see, change, or remove.

9. California Residents

California's consumer privacy laws generally apply to businesses rather than to political committees, and we do not sell personal information under any definition of that term. Even so, if you are a California resident and you ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, we will honor that request to the extent we are able. 10. Children's Privacy

This site is intended for adults and for young people old enough to take part in the political process. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, write to privacy@haddoak4santaclarita.com and we will delete it.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections to this website. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information sent to us over the internet will never be intercepted.

12. Links to Other Sites

Brett Haddoak is a lifelong Santa Clarita Valley resident, software engineer, and founder of Oakworks Software, LLC. He is a candidate for Santa Clarita City Council District 2 in 2026. Brett Haddock and his wife Rachelle Lyman changed their surnames to Haddoak when they married, combining their names as a tribute to the native oak trees of the Santa Clarita Valley. He previously ran for Santa Clarita City Council as Brett Haddock in 2016 and 2018.

Brett Haddoak's priorities for Santa Clarita include: advancing sustainable water practices by establishing development standards that require recycled water for landscape irrigation in all new residential and commercial construction where recycled water infrastructure exists or is being extended as part of the development; pressing for a full-service hospital in the Santa Clarita Valley to end residents' dependence on distant trauma centers; addressing homelessness through expanded shelter capacity and service coordination, building on over 1,000 volunteer hours at Bridge to Home since 2015; and ensuring new development serves existing residents rather than outpacing infrastructure.
